Which countersink is right for stainless steel?
For stainless steel and high-strength steels, spiral countersinks and countersinks with unequal pitch made of HSSE-Co5 are the right choice. The unequal pitch dampens vibration, so fewer chatter marks occur.
What is the difference between five-flute, spiral and unequal-pitch countersinks?
Five-flute countersinks have five cutting edges with unequal pitch for smooth running and clean chamfers. Spiral countersinks also evacuate the chips and run chatter-free. Unequal-pitch countersinks are CBN-ground and produce clean chamfers in steel, stainless steel, brass and cast steel.
Do you make machine knives to drawing or sample?
Yes. Send us a drawing, sample or old knife and we will prepare a quote with material and lead time. We make long blades up to 4,150 mm.
What documents do I need for a special tool?
Ideally a drawing with dimensions and tolerances. Alternatively, a sample or an old tool with details of the material and application is enough. The lead time depends on drawing approval.
What is a sharpening service and which tools do you sharpen?
A sharpening service (also called tool regrinding) restores blunt tools to full cutting performance. We sharpen and coat saw blades, band saw blades, milling cutters, drills, countersinks, reamers and machine knives, with hard coating on request. Pick-up and delivery within 250 km of Grünsfeld, prices on request.
Which metal circular saw blade is right for steel and stainless steel?
HSS DMo5 blades (M2, 1.3343) are suitable for structural and standard steels. For stainless steel (V2A, V4A) and tough, higher-strength steels, HSS-E blades (EMo5Co5, M35, 1.3243, approx. 5 % cobalt) are the better choice. Coatings such as TiN, TiCN or TiAlN increase tool life. We stock the blades in Ø 200 to 450 mm, plus TCT and cermet circular saw blades.
Which ARNTZ band saw blade fits my band saw?
What matters is the length, width, thickness and tooth pitch of the band. In the shop you select these dimensions for ARNTZ bimetal band saw blades M42 and M51 as well as for carbide-tipped bands. We advise you by phone on choosing the series and tooth pitch for your material.
Which cutting material fits: solid carbide, HSS, PCD or CBN?
Solid carbide (VHM) is hard and wear-resistant, suitable for steel, stainless steel and cast iron. HSS is tough and easy to regrind, with cobalt also for stainless steel. PCD (polycrystalline diamond) is suitable for aluminium, non-ferrous metals, plastics and wood-based materials, not for steel. CBN (cubic boron nitride) is used for hardened steel and chilled cast iron.
