Chrome vanadium (CV) saw blades – made in one piece
A CV saw blade is a circular saw blade made of chrome vanadium steel in which the blade body and teeth are one piece. WSH-Tools makes it to measure for continuous use in sawmills, in softwood and wood-based materials. The blade is elastic, easy to resharpen and safer than carbide-tipped blades if a nail is hit.

Technical details
Material & properties in detail
Their one-piece design in chrome vanadium steel fundamentally distinguishes CV saw blades from carbide-tipped blades.
What sets this saw blade apart technically
Material
Chrome vanadium steel – blade body and teeth in one piece, no brazed-on tooth tips.
Manufacturing
Teeth are set, hardened and then ground.
Properties
High flexibility combined with medium hardness, very good heat dissipation – ideal for continuous loads.
Resharpening
Easy to resharpen, many times over, without special equipment for carbide.
Safety
If a nail is hit, there is no risk of tooth tips flying off, as blade and teeth are made in one piece.
Applications
Softwoods, wood-based materials, sawmills under long, constant load.
Tell us the diameter, bore and application – we make your CV saw blade to measure as a custom-made blade.

Firewood
Which saw blade for firewood?
For firewood there are two good options. The TCT firewood blade Ø 700 mm is carbide-tipped and nail-proof, has a long service life and is available from stock (700 × 4.4 mm, 30 mm bore, 46 alternate teeth). A CV saw blade made of chrome vanadium is made to measure: it is elastic and you can resharpen it yourself on any standard sharpening machine. More firewood blades are in the category firewood circular saw blades.

CV steel: what makes a CV circular saw blade
CV stands for chrome vanadium. A CV circular saw blade is made entirely of this alloy steel. Blade body and teeth are made from one piece. No tooth tips are brazed on.
The teeth are set, hardened and then ground. The result is a saw blade with high flexibility combined with medium hardness and very good heat dissipation. These properties suit long, continuous loads.
This one-piece design is what fundamentally sets CV saw blades apart from carbide-tipped blades. If a nail is hit, no tooth tips can chip off or fly away. The blade can be resharpened easily and many times, without special equipment for carbide.
Typical applications are softwoods, wood-based materials and sawmills. WSH-Tools currently supplies CV saw blades as custom-made blades only. Tell us the diameter, bore and application – we will make your CV saw blade to measure.
Frequently asked questions
What does CV mean on a saw blade?
CV stands for chrome vanadium. Blade body and teeth consist of the same chrome vanadium alloy steel and are made from one piece.
Can a CV saw blade be sharpened?
Yes. CV saw blades can be resharpened easily and many times, without special equipment for carbide. During manufacture the teeth are set, hardened and ground.
Is a CV saw blade safe if it hits a nail?
CV saw blades are much safer than carbide-tipped blades if a nail is hit. As blade and teeth are made in one piece, no tooth tips can chip off or fly away.
What sizes are available for CV saw blades?
WSH-Tools makes CV saw blades to measure as custom-made blades. Tell us the diameter, bore and application. A standard product from stock is in preparation.
What is the difference between a CV and a carbide saw blade?
A CV saw blade is made in one piece from chrome vanadium steel; a carbide saw blade has brazed-on tooth tips. CV blades offer high flexibility at medium hardness, are easy to resharpen and safer if a nail is hit.
What are CV saw blades suitable for?
CV saw blades are suitable for softwoods, wood-based materials and sawmills under long, continuous load.
